Not Chipping Sodbury but possibly one of the views worth selling your soul for to a stranger in ill fitting boots and an oddly shaped hat, y/n?

Canal views
It's not this cold any more - the waterfowl are back to swimming in the canal rather than walking on it - but I liked this little parade of duck butts.

Beachcombing
Too tired to write about anything tonight, so have another film scan from that roll I shot while we were in Whitby last year. I'm not sure what the kids were searching for.

Small boy throws rocks at sea
I had four rolls of film sitting on my desk for nearly all of last year and I finally got up the gumption to send them off to be developed. This is a favourite - it's Keiki chucking rocks at the sea on Whitby Beach in January last year. It was 15 degrees C that day, which is not a typical temperature for the north of England at this time of year.

The film was very expired when I popped it in the camera, let alone had it developed, so the fogginess and odd colour palette are not surprising.

Today Humuhumu went back to school, but Keiki was at home because it was a teacher training day at his school. You'd think that they'd be thrilled when this happens - no competition for internet-enabled devices, or access to parents. The reality, however, is that they spend most of the time asking when the other one is finally going to get home.

Rather than mope wistfully around the house for the whole day, Keiki and I decided to tackle a milestone he's been wanting to accomplish: Walking all the way to Tardebigge Tunnel and back. This is no mean feat. It's over 4 km uphill to get there. It took us two hours and ten minutes round trip with only a few brief stops for a drink of water or to unwrap a sweet. Above, he stands proudly at the entrance to the 530 metre tunnel, which can only be accessed by the water.

[Colour-changing lights in the Wellcome Collection cafe, Euston Road, London, UK]

Yesterday I was picked up by a friend to drive to London to meet another friend who was over visiting from the States. We had a vague plan for lunch, museum trip, coffee, and cocktails. It worked out organically.

Shaggy pony ready for closeup
[Shaggy pony is ready for its closeup on a very windy afternoon.]

For an unknown reason, the ponies have been confined for some months to a corner of the field that rendered photography from the house pointless. Recently, however, they've been released from the small triangle where they were penned off, and once again I have the fun of seeing them cavorting around. This little one is particularly full of beans, and when the wind is up, dashes around kicking up its heels for the sheer joy of it.
