Shaggy pony ready for closeup
[Shaggy pony is ready for its closeup on a very windy afternoon.]

For an unknown reason, the ponies have been confined for some months to a corner of the field that rendered photography from the house pointless. Recently, however, they've been released from the small triangle where they were penned off, and once again I have the fun of seeing them cavorting around. This little one is particularly full of beans, and when the wind is up, dashes around kicking up its heels for the sheer joy of it.

How has getting older helped you deal with challenges in life?

I’ve become calmer. I get a lot less riled up by things that would have sent me into a rage spiral twenty years ago.

When I have a look around my home, it’s very obvious that I…

...need to hoover, again, even if I just did it twelve hours ago.

In other exciting news, someone has washed and brushed the Shaggy Pony, and its coat is once again white(ish)!

Someone asked in the comments if the Shaggy Ponies are still in the field opposite us. The answer is yes, but sadly the black one who featured in this journal a couple of years ago, especially after she had her baby, has moved homes. A charming white vanner has replaced her, as seen below, and is currently almost as much mud as pony given the soggy conditions.

What is your take on organ donation?
It saves lives. If my organs are still in a functional state after I die and they might be useful to someone who’s still alive, take as many of them as you can and give them to those people. I won’t be needing them. As for other people, I’d like to think that those healthy folk who don’t have religious beliefs forbidding it would do the same, but it’s their choice.

Circle, this photo-a-day thing seems to be working for me right now, so I'm going to do it again, as otherwise I can't muster the gumption to post regularly. Here is Cousin It on a strange evening a couple of weeks ago, when fog rose up out of the fields and enveloped the shaggy ponies.

My friends, I have had an absolute shocker of a day at work. Therefore, I must share with you the thing that is lifting my spirits (apart from the nice ale I'm about to drink): A video of Minipony scratching its butt on a fence. Bow chikka bowbowwww!
Minipony is lost in the long grass
If the grass gets much longer, Minipony will appear to be levitating.

I looked out the window the other morning to see some very wind-blown Shaggy Ponies (Minipony and Cousin It) grazing and seemingly oblivious to the swifts swooping and diving all around them. I couldn't get any clear shots of the swifts but given that this was shot at 1/2500, or 0.0004 of a second, shutter speed, it gives you some idea of how fast the birds are moving between the ponies!
New Shaggy Pony
It has been too long since the last Shaggy Pony update. In fact, it has been so long that What, the daughter of Cousin It (pictured, left), has gone off to live with new owners.

The sadness thus incurred by neighbouring observers has been mitigated by the arrival of the new resident on the right, the small and perfectly formed Miniature Pony. MiniPony was kept separate from the other ponies for a few weeks after its arrival, but as of last weekend, it has been allowed out to play with the other, bigger Shaggy Ponies. HUZZAH.
Hellooooo friends I have been down the pub and the bloke is putting the children to bed and tomorrow I have some fantastic rhubarb-&-ginger gin cocktails recipes to share with you but for now I give you some pre-organised pony pictures. Now I have to have more gin. Yes. Byeeee.

It’s been very windy here, and it seems to have been getting the shaggy ponies’ blood up. They’ve been playing tag, or possibly having races, with their horse companion. Maybe it’s the equine version of Calvinball?

Shaggy pony races
This looked like a race at first, but then What nosed Horse just before side-stepping and zooming off.
