The Great British Bake Off has begun again. The first episode of the new season aired on Wednesday night. I livetweeted with the other fanpersons on my list. Picking favourites was VERY HARD and I imagine they'll be different next week! I am sure Rav is great! But we got twenty whole seconds of him!

Yes, I agree. I expect to get a lot of Unscientific Poll fodder out of Bake Off. And I want to see more of Rav too! I seem to remember they did the same thing to us with Tamal last year.

Yes, I think they did. He was but fleeting moments of hotness until it all started to kick off and then we got his delightful commentary as well. Oh, Tamal.

I'd love to see Tamal back on my tellybox again, but I understand he may be a teeny bit busy being a doctor...

I love Selasi. He reminds me of my brother. But I also love Benjamina because I think she has mad technical skills and I feel for her having her mixture do the wrong thing and having to be comforted by Sue.

I was not expecting to like Candice because she is a PE teacher and I was distracted by her vampire-like lipstick, but I really warmed to her over the course of the programme.

I hope Tom doesn't go on too much about his inspirational weight loss story, because my feelings on peoples inspirational weight loss stories are 'I'm glad you're happy and I support your right to do what you like with your own body, but things that set off disordered-eating related weirdness in my brain are not my friend'.

I think Val is playing to the cameras a bit and I will like her more when she settles down and stops showboating.

I'm having trouble remembering who everyone else is. It feels as if I've seen Kate on at least three previous series already.

Selasi, Benjamina and Candice are my top three. I don't think they'll all get through to the final, but I like them best. I wasn't expecting to like Candice either despite blatant goth lipstick, but she won me over when she flung her failed genoese like a frisbee. :D

Kate reminds me a bit of Martha from Season 5. Jane is basically Nancy (again Season 5) all over again. There always seems to be a hapless older guy who goes out in the first 2-3 weeks, too!

I would like to see more of Candice combining baking and sport. Maybe next time she can hurdle over the other cooking stations in order to fling a flaming pan out of the tent,or aerate her bread dough by whirling it about like a shot put.

I am having trouble warming to Val, so I hope she does settle down and become less irritating. All of the white men have sort of jumbled themselves up in my head right now, other than the red-headed engineer from Northern Ireland.

Val's comment about her husband expecting tea made me shout at my telly. If he's so hungry, tell him he's welcome to take his arse to the chippy, and bring home some for her too! Ugh!

Agreed on the white men. The redheaded engineer's reaction to the very clean lines of Selasi's mirror cake are part of what cemented him in my memory!

I don't know, I'm still catching up on the first season, but I can hardly wait to find out!

YAY! Ohhhh, you have so much joy awaiting you. I started watching in Season Four, but only got really hooked during Season Five. I honestly think it just keeps getting better. :)

I love the case, even as I'm sure there are more than a few people who would spin in their grave at Hokusai being paired with popular entertainment like Pokémon.
