Yesterday I went to the pet supply shop to get some fresh bedding and bath sand for the gerbils. I made a tactical error: I took the children with me. The past few times this has not been a mistake, because the pet supply shop has largely been depleted of its stock of adorable baby animals. Not yesterday, though.

We came home with this. Meet Tiny, the Roborovski dwarf hamster )
One more picture, because I can't quite believe she's not going to grow much bigger. Tiny nibbling a carrot. )

[NB: We did acquire gerbil bedding and bath sand. Cheeky and Nibbles were particularly active and adventurous this evening. It's almost as if they realised they needed to up their game.]

Humuhumu lost two teeth today. That's four teeth in the space of two weeks. Keiki lost one of his upper incisors a couple of days ago. Our children have very gap-toothed smiles right now.

I started a new cross-stitch.

I updated my slow cooker recipe post with the things I've made in the new year (DW / LJ).

The gerbils continue to be captivating. Photos of Cheeky taking sunflower seeds from my fingers are under the cut. +2 )

An exciting thing happened today. We have two new family members. Introducing: Cheeky and Nibbles!

Nibbles is the sleepy-looking one with the reddish eyes. We are assured that they are both boys. We shall see.

Major gerbil achievement tonight: They worked out how to climb the orange tube to get to Level 2 of their house, which has their food and water bowls, and their wheel.
