Oolong wishes you a happy new year, full of waffles.

I'm a couple of days late, but still, Happy New Year, if you're following a lunisolar calendar! It feels appropriate to pause and take a moment to appreciate all the things I have managed to tick off my Goal List based on the Arbitrary Gregorian Boundary Condition timeline.

The full list is here (DW/LJ), but if you can't be bothered to look at all my lovely strike-throughs, which I get enormous pleasure out of doing myself, here are the main points summarized.

I have:

  • Been to the gym at least 3 times a week for a month
  • Obtained a provisional driving license
  • Gotten my eyes checked & purchased new glasses
  • Purchased flights & arranged some accommodation for trips to Austria, California & Iceland

As you may have noticed, however, all this Accomplishing (and being extremely busy at work both with teaching and "actual" work), has had a detrimental effect on my blogging habit. Additionally, the "regular gym attendance" portion of the endeavour means that instead of reading or writing on the morning train, I am usually passed out. I aim to be able to take my foot off the gas a bit once I've delivered a major bit of code - and finished planning all these trips. That way I can get back to indulging my penchant for navel-gazing and self-portraiture. I'm not certain anyone else enjoys that as much a bunny with a waffle on its head, but I do.

Bunnnnny of adorable! Happy New Year to you, too. And wow, congrats on going to the gym — that's always been one of the hardest for me.
