I haven't done one of these in far too long, so below the cut, have a poll about the Great British Bake Off now that we're more than midway through the competition. I really like the participants in this one; I was rather lukewarm on it last year so I'm happy to be fully invested in it again.

I like both Lizzie and Cristelle but I don't think either will make it to the final.

I have to say this series has felt fairly predictable from the start, but I'm still enjoying it because of the convivial atmosphere.

The skill level in the later series is off the charts. In the earlier series, the showstopper could be an exquisite tart. In the later series, that wouldn't even challenge the bakers. Now we get showstoppers like galaxy turtles (!!)—a personal favorite of mine.

Kim-Joy! Her creations were epic, and so many of them had little nerdy nods to her favourite things (which so happened to be some of my favourite things). I'm getting her book just to look at the photos.

I really need Chigs to flame out. The whole "I learned to bake during the pandemic" thing rubs me the wrong way

He may well do when it comes to the quarter or semi-final. I don't think he has the consistency of the top two contenders.
