Bath Abbey

I took a small set of very hurried dSLR photos on our visit to Bath Abbey and was mildly disappointed in them. Until I converted them to black and white and discovered that they all appear to be super creepy, which pleases my inner eldergoth greatly.




He still thinks he's gone to the good place.

Focus is not where I intended, but somehow I like it better than if it had been on the reclining figure. LURKING

Yes I was expecting the weeping angels from phto one. Nanila, you've turned the laptop/phone/etc of everyone who looks at your blog into a Weeping Angel ... don't rub your eyes ... DON'T BLINK.

Yes, it's a beautiful place. I would have loved to linger but the demands of the small people for their tea meant we didn't stay long.

Thank you! The lighting is very sparse inside and, being late afternoon, there was no light coming in from the windows, so having to shoot at high ISO with no flash added a certain atmospheric graininess...

There is definitely something about how black and white makes all of those places feel very old and significantly creepy.

There isn't much colour in the walls and statuary anyway, and the draperies are quite sparse, so the abbey naturally lends itself to black-and-white photography.
