Yes, yes, I know it’s Saturday, but yesterday I was too wrung out to make a poll. The bloke and I had about enough energy to watch Extra Slice and HIGNFY and then we crashed.

So! The final! Once again, I shall put all behind cuts.

But now, to predict the winner.
Poll #20633 GBBO: The winner?
Open to: Registered Users, detailed results viewable to: Just the Poll Creator, participants: 14

Who will wear the crown?

Ruby
9 (64.3%)

Kim-Joy
3 (21.4%)

Rahul
2 (14.3%)

Well, I am, for one. However, I’m finding it more difficult to predict a winner than I did three weeks ago. I feel that Rahul cruised his way through up until the point where he actually had to learn something. I’m not convinced he’s taken that on board sufficiently well to guarantee winning any more. Ruby and Kim-Joy, OTOH, are still evolving and developing. They’re hitting the limits of their ability to deal with stress, but not counting on natural talent to obscure their weaknesses (unlike Rahul, who is still pretty messy). I’m by no means as certain of my choice this time. Roll on, next Tuesday!

I think the last episode was a really important turning point in terms of who deals with stress best - I didn't expect Rahul to have a meltdown! (I really, really didn't expect Kim-Joy to cry, and that was really heart wrenching!) And I'm now thinking that Ruby might be the one who keeps her head under pressure and walks away with the prize.

Ughhhhh the tension!! The pressure!! I love this show.

I’ve just scrolled back to see what I said on your previous post and my thoughts haven’t changed. Rahul’s had a few wobbles which reinforces my view that he’s not taken on the feedback and developed his skills / travelled along the improvement journey-path. I’m also now really annoyed by the rings he doesn’t take off to mix things by hand!

I have now caught up in time for tonight. In your last poll I put Briony in the top three because she'd taken feedback on board and upped her game, but I agree that it was right that she left and would now say that Ruby has taken on feedback and upped her game massively, and is also taking it more seriously than she did at the start, and I would like her to win now.

It feels like Rahul was way better than everyone else at the start and then they all caught up and he hasn't improved any. Possibly getting star baker a lot at the beginning inclines you towards complacency, although I wouldn't call him complacent exactly.
