[The lab’s current chocolate stash, from left to right: Tim Tams, Mint Slices, Caramello Koalas.]

One of my colleagues just came back from a month in Australia, visiting her partner’s family. As is traditional, she brought a stash of treats to the lab. This consisted of the following:

Tim Tams: Generous layer of milk chocolate coating a chocolate biscuit interior. Like an inverted bourbon. Or a Penguin on steroids.
Mint Slices: Generous layer of milk chocolate coating a smooth minty interior. After Eights on steroids.
Caramello Koalas: Milk chocolate koalas with caramel filling. I can't think of a UK equivalent.

Least favourite would be the minty ones. Mint, imo, has nothing to do with sweets what so ever. Cannot fathom why some people like making their chocolate taste like toothpaste...

I believe caramel-filled Freddos are a thing.

I think there was Cadbury Taz, which were similar to Freddo but filled with caramel.

I have eaten Tim Tams before, and greatly enjoyed them. But I picked Mint Slices because they sound delicious.

I would kill multiple people to get some more Cherry Ripes. They're basically Mounds (dark chocolate with a coconut interior for those not in the States), but with the addition of dried cherries.

SO.

DAMN.

GOOD.

And I've only been able to try them once. -sob-

I like mint + chocolate, but only with dark chocolate, so defaulting to Caramello Koalas because koalas! (and the package is cute)

Tim Tams are amazing. When my cousin came last month she brought me six packets. All different flavours. I was in heaven.

I've had TimTams a few times (assorted friends from or visiting Australia, also now the bigger supermarkets seem to stock them now and again) and I LOVE them. Also I hate mint and can take or leave caramel.

The Tim Tams, definitely, as neither mint not caramel are favored flavors or varieties of chocolate that I enjoy.

Mint slice for me. Not that I'd say no to any of them.

Peters put out a series of biscuit-inspired ice creams, and I thought it would be ideal for mint slice but they were quite disappointing. But the wagon wheel version was good!

Tim tams! Oh my god. Haven't had them since I was *in* Australia. Make sure you suck your tea through one and then eat it as the middle caves in and it's all hot and omg.

Tim Tams are the highlight of Australian cuisine. Whenever I go to Oz, I bring back a few packages. (I also stock up on sunscreen there, but that is not edible.)
