Day 198/365: PokeGo Gratitude Post

This happened last week. My first gold gym badge in PokéGo! Since I’m not a big raider, this took months of defending and berry-feeding. I’m very pleased. It’s also in a cemetery, which makes my eldergoth heart sing.

I wish to thank the PokéGo friends who have been continuing to send me gifts this week even though I’m unable to reciprocate, due to single-parenting and not travelling into the city. You’re keeping me topped up with Pokéballs and berries, which is very useful when you’re stuck out in the countryside with only two Pokéstops within a kilometre.

Thanks to you and the eggs in your gifts, and the recent release of Alolan Geodude and Alolan Diglett into the wild, I now have all the unevolved Alolan Pokémon forms that are presently available. (Evolution awaits the use of a Lucky Egg, which I haven’t had time to do.) I will shower you all with gifts as soon as I’m able.

Has anyone been able to participate in Professor Willow’s Global Challenges? I’ve not been able to visit Pokéstops during either of them, because they happen on weekends and I’ve got my hands full then. So I haven’t done any of the special research tasks. :( I noticed there were a lot more interesting things around to catch this weekend. Torchic, Seedot, and Voltorb, for instance, were appearing canalside, which they very rarely do. Anyway, if you have been able to participate, share your experience with me, please!

I've been doing the special research tasks but can't claim my reward as I need to complete the final task which is to battle in 2 raids - a tricky proposition as we live in a village with few gyms and I'm rarely passing one and smallest child free at the time of a raid!

Argh, how aggravating not to be able to claim your reward! Sympathies on the rural location. Raids also just plain take too long. I rarely participate even when I'm in the city.

Ooh, congrats on the gold gym! I don't have one of those yet; I'm always pleased when I can bronze one, heh.

I haven't been able to do any of Professor Willow's challenges and I appreciate gifts for a similar reason you do: it's really hard for me to get out. It's nice that I have a way to stock up on things now that doesn't require money or long Pokewalks or travel.

Thank you! Yes, I'm pleased enough with bronze; I never thought gold would even be attainable!

It's nice to finally have something that's beneficial to rural players. Now if only the rewards for increasing friendship level actually included something beneficial to rural players (like getting more items from one another's gifts).

Thank you, and congrats on your gold! I have a number of silvers too. Two others that are more than 2/3 of the way to gold, but I reckon there's at least a few more weeks of play in those before I can get to gold.

Yeah, a lot of silver possibilities, but gyms in my area tend not to have long streaks of possession. It can make just getting enough for a daily max tricky.

\O/ Congratulations on the gold gym badge! It's hard work getting one of those. I thoroughly approve of it being a cemetery gym too.

I've currently got a project to gold badge the three gyms in our local cemetery. This is not an task as the gates are locked out of hours so I can only really get there to take and defend gyms over the weekend and when I have holiday. But it's a lovely place to walk around so it's not exactly a great hardship to amble down the hill, amble around, take a gym, and amble back home again :)

I didn't get to do a lot for Professor Willow's Global Challenges due to health issues but I did love the abundance of non-water based Pokémon appearing around the place. And thanks to a friend who is better at social things than I am, I have a little ready-made raid group to do Zapados raids with this coming Saturday, so I'm looking forward to that.

Thank you! I'm pleased it was the cemetery gym that went gold first, and not either of the pubs which are more than 2/3 silver. :D

I thoroughly approve of your gold cemetery gym project and I hope it comes off soon.

I'm sorry that health got in the way of challenge participation. But yay, Zapdos raid group! I hope you get a super-duper Shiny one!
