The fabled Beast from the East, about which the UK newspapers have been emoting for days, finally seems to have arrived in the West Midlands. Prior to this we had been thinking it was all just a lot of Hysteria from Siberia. But now, in addition to the cold which has seen the canal freeze over, we have the snow to match.
In far more significant news, I have, at long last, bagged myself a Lapras in Pokémon Go. It hatched from a 10 km egg. I was so happy. I've waited a year and a half for one of these.

Screenshot of Lapras. ♥
Other things I'm enjoying:
- The PokéGo map and catch screens reflect the current weather conditions, and the snow effects are rather lovely.
- I seem to be getting a much better ratio of 2 km/5 km/10 km eggs. It used to be that I always had eight 5 km eggs and maybe one other. Now I have almost equal numbers of the three types.
- My Rock-type badge went gold, and my Pikachu badge went silver with the latest proliferation of the party-hatted versions.
- Have acquired 300+ Wailmer candies. Getting There.

I hatched a Dratini on my walk home last night and did a dance in the snow. Luckily for me snow meant not witnesses.
300?! HOW. Are you finding the pikachu are more likely to take 2 or 3 balls to catch? It is driving me batty.

I see Wailmers pretty frequently because of the canal. But even so I've used a lot of Pinap berries to get to 307 candies.
Yes, unless the party-hat Pikachu are really low CP, they need Razz berries. My Pokéball stash is low. Need another trip to the city to refill. ;)

I know you managed to evolve Wailmer, but have you also done Swablu? I was just sort of casually collecting those, assuming it needed 50 candies to evolve, but then I noticed it's actually 400. I don't see them as often as Wailmer so now I'm a bit grumpy that I wasn't using Pinap berries on them earlier.

The only shiny thing I've caught so far is a Magikarp, and that was not a very good one. In fact the only reason I've been partaking in raid battles is to try and get a wonderful one, so I can evolve it with the candies I've been saving up!

You too!
Not as much as we had before Christmas, however.

Yay, Lapras! (I've hatched one and caught one, and that's it.)
And yes, those party hat chus are such a pain to catch.

Lapras was worth the wait. <3
Party hat chus seem to have gone now. Ah well. It was always going to be a loooong time before my badge went gold anyway.

I was thrilled to hatch my Lapras when it happened.
And yes, will be a long time before the Pikachu badge fills. Thankfully, they seem to do a chu for most events.

They seems to have rebalances the eggs. At least I am getting a lot more of the 10 and 2 km, too - I like both, the ones for the fancy pokemon, the others for the quick "yay, accomplished" feeling they bring. Just the 5th are annoying ... XD

Agreed on the satisfaction types from 10 and 2 km eggs! Every now and then I get a great starter Pokémon from a 2 km egg. I got my first Taillow that way.

Regional differences are utterly fascinating.
But yes on the starter pokemon from the 2k eggs! Those are sooo satisfactory.
