Snowstorm over the canal
The fabled Beast from the East, about which the UK newspapers have been emoting for days, finally seems to have arrived in the West Midlands. Prior to this we had been thinking it was all just a lot of Hysteria from Siberia. But now, in addition to the cold which has seen the canal freeze over, we have the snow to match.

In far more significant news, I have, at long last, bagged myself a Lapras in Pokémon Go. It hatched from a 10 km egg. I was so happy. I've waited a year and a half for one of these.

Other things I'm enjoying:
  • The PokéGo map and catch screens reflect the current weather conditions, and the snow effects are rather lovely.
  • I seem to be getting a much better ratio of 2 km/5 km/10 km eggs. It used to be that I always had eight 5 km eggs and maybe one other. Now I have almost equal numbers of the three types.
  • My Rock-type badge went gold, and my Pikachu badge went silver with the latest proliferation of the party-hatted versions.
  • Have acquired 300+ Wailmer candies. Getting There.

LAPRAS! ♥

I hatched a Dratini on my walk home last night and did a dance in the snow. Luckily for me snow meant not witnesses.

300?! HOW. Are you finding the pikachu are more likely to take 2 or 3 balls to catch? It is driving me batty.

Huzzah for the Lapras! Must be the weather conditions ;)

I have done Swablu - mostly because it's one that turns up more often under windy and cloudy conditions and the center of Bristol specialises in those weather conditions over the winter so they've been everywhere. It's been a welcome change from the Zigagoons and the Pidgeys. I've yet to catch a shiny one though.

My shiny Magikarp is not going to make much headway in battle according to Blanche. But there's a couple of players on my team who pass through the city center from time to time leaving a shiny Pikachu and a shiny Swablu in gyms. So I've taken to popping my shiny Magikarp in there with them whenever I spot a gym that they've taken :)

Hey!

You too!

Not as much as we had before Christmas, however.

Yay, snow effects. They are quite pretty.

Yay, Lapras! (I've hatched one and caught one, and that's it.)

And yes, those party hat chus are such a pain to catch.

Yeah, I got to see some of it in my travels, which was very neat.

I was thrilled to hatch my Lapras when it happened.

And yes, will be a long time before the Pikachu badge fills. Thankfully, they seem to do a chu for most events.

Lapras! <3

They seems to have rebalances the eggs. At least I am getting a lot more of the 10 and 2 km, too - I like both, the ones for the fancy pokemon, the others for the quick "yay, accomplished" feeling they bring. Just the 5th are annoying ... XD

Oh, are taillows rare for you? They are everywhere here! But there are others where I haven't seen any in the wild yet :(
Regional differences are utterly fascinating.

But yes on the starter pokemon from the 2k eggs! Those are sooo satisfactory.
