As usual, please skip if uninterested in Pokémon Go. Otherwise, squee welcome in the comments. What level are you? How many in your Pokédex? Have you caught/evolved/hatched anything you're particularly excited about? TELL MEEEE

  • The last time I posted, I was Level 17. Now I’m almost halfway through Level 20.
  • After two failed attempts, I finally caught a Koffing. In an Ultra Ball.
  • After a long run of getting no 10 km eggs, I ran down my egg supply last week and now have two to hatch. Terribly excited.
  • I hatched a Doduo! Hilarious two-headed bobbly bird-thing!
  • I caught a Kabuto, the first and only time I’ve seen one. \o/
  • I’ve made a spreadsheet so I can do my evolves in an organised fashion when I pop one of my two new Lucky Eggs.
  • I have, however, allowed myself the pleasure of one new evolution in the interim. I collected up almost 500 Magikarp candies, maxed out powering up a Magikarp and then Humuhumu evolved it for me.
  • Y’all were right: it was totally worth the slog of catching over 100 Magikarp for that. GYARADOS
  • I maxed out another medal in addition to the Swimmer: the Schoolkid, for catching 200+ Normal Pokémon.
  • The medals are a good way of telling how common certain types of Pokémon are in the areas you frequent. I’m most of the way to maxing out Bird Keeper and Punk Girl, whereas I’ve yet to reach 10 on Kindler, Rocker or Fairy Tale Girl.
  • Still getting out for daily Pokéwalks. Have hatched 50 eggs. Even when working on two simultaneously, with a minimum distance of 2 km - and most of them have been 5 km - that’s quite a lot of walking.
  • DID I MENTION THE CP1600+ BLUE DRAGON. <3333

I evolved my Gyrados at the weekend and did exactly what you did (minus getting my child to evolve it for me, as I don't have one!)

Slogging my way to the end of Level 25 now. It's a big one.

Off Bulbasaur and Ponyta hunting after work before meeting friends.

Holland Park is crawling with Bulbasaurs. Ponytas are pretty frequent at the crescent at the top of Portland Place and some bright spark on Reddit has done a Google overlay with crowd-sourced confirmed spawns. You want map 2.0.

\o/ Gyarados!

I am at 160-odd on my Magikarp collecting.

I am on 21 and still have no fucking Charmanders, gdi. (Well, other than my starter and the one - ONE SINGLE ONE - I saw in the wild of higher CP, and caught). I did however manage to evolve a Golduck last night, at a respectable cp. (1200-someodd).

Also got my Persian. And tho I let it go in favour of candy to level up the Tentacool b/c it'll be way higher cp than the 120 of the one I caught, also found a Tentacruel, which looks like Evil Squidward.

Oh no! My wording was confusing. That is the progression for the Tentas. Persians are the evolved versions of Meowths. And are prettier. I have wanted one for AGES.

I am shallow, ok: other than my DRAGONS (and no not dragonite why why would you make it so doofy looking), I basically most want Persians and Ninetails due to being So Goddamn Pretty.

And yeah I got my psyducks, a bunch of magikarps and the tentacruel all down on the Quay; up here we're more zubats (fucking zubats) and drowzees.

GYARAAAAADOOOOOS *_* Isn't it exciting :D :D :D!!!

I hit level 22 yesterday! Which makes me pleased since I haven't playing that long (less than three weeks, so it feels like... learn fast? = good thing? haha!) and also I've stopped trying to powerlevel since I hit 20, so it was a nice bonus. It was during an evolution spree wherein I used a lucky egg and hatched ALL THE FUN THINGS *_*

Oooh, ooh! Also I caught a Lapras in the wild today! My beautiful plesiosaur looking blue baby! :D :D :D

I bagged a Snorlax and a Lapras on the same day. Really lucked out.

When do we get Neko Atsume Go?

I'm about a third of the way to 19. My Pokedex says I've caught only 50 varieties, most of them water and the mons that are everywhere. I'm getting ready to pop an egg and see if I can't power-evolve some of them for extra experience, and shoot for 20 so I can get Ultra Balls.

My current highest CP Pokémon is a 787 Magmar, which is about half the CP on the lowest tiers of the gyms near me. So I'm not exactly able to play Queen of the Castle yet. Maybe with time I'll get something nice.

Did pop the egg, jumped 18-20,so now i have incubators and ultra Balls and [expletive] the XP requirements are massive for the next level. Added a few evolutions to the Dex as well.

And broke the 1000 CP barrier with an evolved Pidgeot. So now I have one pokemon that might occasionally be worth it. Yay.

As long as you have healing potions and five or more of those 700-ish level ones, you can still at least take out the bottom tier of an opponent-team gym, because you get to go through all five of them. I did that for almost a month, and it helps lots with the levelling.

This doesn't work if it's held by your own team, because you only get to train one pokemon at a time, so if you don't have one that can beat at least the lowest tier, it's not worth it. But for opposition gyms you only have to have five pokemon who, all TOGETHER, can take down that one lowest tier to make it Worth It, even if you can't actually take the gym.

As long, at least, as you have the healing potions for them.

Oh, I haven't really gotten a lot of experience from the gyms. I can win one fight, which is 100 XP - not much when the level requirements are at 50,000. But it will help me get rid of all my revives and potions, that's for sure.

:) If you manage to lower gym prestige enough to boot that lowest level pokemon out it has a somewhat higher XP reward, and obvs if you DO have a lot of revives and potions and a gym with at least one if not two tiers that your team all together can take down, I found opening an egg and just spending the length of a coffee or tea hammering at them got me fairly far, at least before I hit the 20s.

My problem now is that the stops in my area are suddenly being Crap for potions. e.e Stupid things. I've juuuust got a few with high enough cp to occasionally take a gym and thus get me potential coin rewards, so I do that, but I need more potions. (I've got enough revives for three people, and the stops keep giving me revives, which are useless if I want to help a Mystic gym hold onto it. Pah.)

GYARADOS. \o/ I have hatched a sad solitary Magikarp. Some day, little buddy, some day.

Best Pokemon: Coocifer the Pidgeot, CP 883. I'm not a spectacular battler, but I have enough in the 7-800 range to take some of the less powerful gyms around the area.

Level: 14 and 2-or-3 frizzem-frazzem Nidorans from level 15. (I am buried in Nidorans, but it'll be worth it for the 3rd-stage ones...)

20 Pokemon are ready to evolve, I just need to hit level 15 so I can comfortably sit down with my Lucky Egg and make it happen.

I haven't checked my PokeDex in a while. It's stuffed with Nidorans and Eevee variations, so I don't think it's going to be particularly impressive either.

I did catch a Snorlax the other day, and hatched a Tauros, which is the NA-exclusive Pokemon. Yay!

>>That's a high CP Pokemon for Level 14, isn't it?

I think so. He's maxed out as far as I can, because I've been catching Pidgey by the potloads and for a while had nothing better to do with my Stardust.

Ooh yes, definitely leave egg space! I hope you catch one. :D

Cannot wait for the trade feature.

I have joined the pokemons! I seem to be collecting Drowzees, although I'm trading in the low-CP ones for candy to power up the others. My current top powered Drowzee is called Negasonic. (I have some Hypnos as well, they're fairly common in the wild here, but I'm having more fun hyper-powering the chubby little Drowzee...)

I hit level 5 today and put it in a gym; it did not work out well for Negasonic, but it was instructive in the 'what do you do with pokemons' kind of way.

The gyms around here are all held by pokemons with CP 1200+, so it will be quuuite a while before any of my pokemons are ready to do battle, I think.

Gyarados!

I have juuuust enough Magikarp candies to evolve now and I'm trying to decide whether to catch a few more to power it up or go for it anyway this evening. I'm tempted to go for it because I have a Lucky Egg and a lot of other Pokémon waiting to be evolved and I could use the XP boost because level 25 feels like a long, long slog...
