Friends who play the cat game may have noticed that the last update included some new toys, like the luxurious Sunken Fireplace pictured below. I was delighted to discover that this item attracted Chairman Meow, previously tempted only by the Earthenware Pot.

Chairman Meow is perched atop the fireplace. This was also the first time I'd managed to catch Conductor Whiskers in the act of riding the cardboard train.

Another photo with two rare cats. I like this one because of the contrast: the elegant Lady Meow Meow lounging in the hammock in shades below Bob the Cat with rucksack and rough-hewn walking stick.

It's been almost four months. Should I stop playing Neko Atsume?

Yes. You have a giant stockpile of gold fish & nothing to spend it on except expensive food, and you have a stockpile of that as well.

No. PLAY FOREVER or at least as long as the kitties give you joy.

I've had visits - and got pictures - of them all, and I have a ridiculously large soft spot for Xerxes IX, who just looks as if someone wrapped him up and dumped him in the garden and his dignity is affronted.

I am not a cat person and can't think of anything worse to be playing but thanks to you lot, I now have a cat garden on my phone managed by Small Daughter who has to rush in from school to check it. Daughter (on her own phone) is saving for an extension and I have introduced it to a cat-loving 11-year-old down the road...

I did not know Chairman Meow went for the fireplace. I have not lured him there yet.

I am still missing three rare cats. But I have finally managed to get a picture of not-rare Peaches.

It is very good for instantly averting mutiny among the children. And my father-in-law (former special needs teacher) came up with a long list of skills it would help teach - delayed gratification and budgeting, co-operative working, and so on.

A friend is having trouble attracting (let alone snapping) Peaches. I'm OK there but appear to have offended Frosty something rotten - I've had precisely one short visit and that was on Christmas Day!

He needs the snowy pillow and the really posh food. I've only had him a couple of times as well.

Frosty seems to be one of the more unpredictable ones. Looks like different people have had success with different things!

I can at least report that the Frisky Bitz is okay. He doesn't come often, but he does

Peaches will go for, at least, the Tiramisu Cube, the Art Deco Cat Tree and the Rice Kettle but is pretty random.

It was the green pillow.... I've currently got the snowy pillow and the blizzard tent and I've worked through the foods. My friend who can't get Peaches can regularly get Frosty. Well, it wouldn't be so much fun if it was completely predictable!

I got him on the first day or something... He has so far visited 8 times and I have 6 pictures of him - I have good timing ;-)

I've finally gotten a picture of Cream (Peaches) and this has given me a nice lead on where to get several of the rare cats I'm missing. :D

I also got my last remodel skin this morning, woohoo!

Kitties foreverrrrrr. (Or at least as long as they're fun.)

I, too, am now the proud possessor of a cat garden. With cats. I quite like it when I'm travelling, and have a couple of dead minutes when it's not worth reading.

I have attracted only two Special Cats (who, I suspect, are the two blindingly obvious ones that you get right away). But I have pictures of all the not-special cats, even Peaches!

I am working on trying to attract cats for memento-grabbing now and on working my way through the expensive stuff in the goodies store in case cool things happen...

(I am trying not to get too spoiled or look up walkthroughs, but it's hard to resist!)

Yeah, I can totally see that! I've been sort of idly putting out goodies that I know a couple of memento-less cats like, but mostly I'm just seeing who wanders past and slowly acquiring goodies in descending order of price...

Like, my current dilemma is pretty much "goodies or remodels first, oh and do I spend gold fish on expensive food or save my fishes for one-time purchases". :D

(I am probably thinking too much about this game.)

I have seen Peaches ONCE. But it was very nice to meet her!

I have never played this, perhaps I should being a cat lover :)

Oh wow, it shows? Cool.

I'm a bit torn on whether I actually like it, but it's one of those games that's okay for me to play - I am gone from my cell phone for 10 and 8 hours (work and sleep) every day.

Small Daughter has 3 or 4 consecutive days a week when she doesn't have access to my phone and it doesn't seem to matter. She just carries on where she left off. I was worried I'd have to feed imaginary cats for her while she's not there but fortunately it isn't like harbouring a demanding virtual pet.

Do you break out the heaters when it snows as well? I don't want the cats getting cold!

Heaters and the sledge!

I use the posh pillows seasonally - the pink will be for spring, the red for summer (with the big umbrella), and the maple leaf one for autumn (with the pile of leaves).

And the blankets so they can snuggle inside!
