The Matriarchal Rainbow Glory of a Playmobil Nativity Scene
[Fully assembled contents of the Playmobil advent calendar. It is nothing short of amazing.]

We're heading off to Norfolk soon, so Humuhumu finished opening the last three boxes (pony! unicorn!...er, pot plant!) of her advent calendar this morning, and I've assembled the contents for her as a surprise when she returns from nursery today. She has switched round Joseph and Mary's outfits, but to be fair they can both wear the bustle with grace and aplomb.

Dwircle/Friends, I invite you to join me in basking in the matriarchal rainbow glory of this all-female nativity scene.

Playmobil! My brother and I had a bunch when we were little, and they were mostly of the car variety. That's a blast from the past.

I'm heading to Norfolk tomorrow to see my parents :)

Our Playmobil Advent Calendar is a Christmas Market (and not at all as it looks on the box, because it came from a charity shop with quite a few bits missing, which I substituted via eBay).

I will be heading away from Norfolk to visit my parents the day after Boxing Day.

That is excellent.

I like the inclusion of the unicorn and potted plant. :D
pbristow: Paul looks straight into camera, chin in hand, eyebrow raised. He is shaggy haired, boss-eyed, & his glasses are askew. (_Boss-eyed)

But... But... Unicorns never made it into the ark! There's a song about it, and everything!!! =:oO

I would definitely put one of those in my nativity scene, had I one. :D

(Or Neko Atsume. Developers take heed - I will grind for hours to get the peacock-flavored stuff, lol..)

That is amazing. I want all four Gospels telling the version of the story where Mary and her wife Joseph bring forth the Holy Potplant now. I'm guessing one mentions a pony and a unicorn and one of the others goes with peacocks (or just 'birds' in the modern translation) and Nativity scenes generally go for a synthesis.

I had completely forgotten about this and now I am delighted by it all over again :-D

Awesomeness! My boys loved playmobil. They came out when my eldest was 1 year old which is a long time ago. There was nothing quite so colourful back then :)
ETA: That's totally wrong. They came out a year before he was born :)

That is entirely the best advent calendar that I have seen in my life. Would that they all are so fantastic.

Are you sure it's meant to be a nativity scene? It's pretty... um, alternative.

I'm thinking something with princesses what with the castles and the unicorns.
