[Found the Jungle Book bench!]
Humuhumu and I are using our time in London to hunt down the Books about Town. We began, early on Thursday morning, in Greenwich at the riverside.
Our first bench was Samuel Pepys' Diary, in which London is on fire. I tried to impress Humuhumu with the gravity of the situation, but she didn't take it on board very well.
Er, no, that still says "unholy glee" to me, sweetheart.
The Railway Children was our second find.
I like how she seems to be making the same face here as the girl on the bench.
Our third bench: The Canterbury Tales. Model and photographer swap positions with interesting and wonky results.
We headed into Greenwich Park to continue the trail, past the Maritime Museum and then up the hill toward the Royal Observatory. Our first find here was The Jungle Book bench. She adored this one - it took a full fifteen minutes to peel her away from it, as she kept going round it pointing at the animals and making what I presume she thought were the appropriate noises.
Elmer the Elephant. She loved the textures on this one.
At the top of the hill by the Royal Observatory sits The Time Machine bench. Here we met the cleaning and touch-up crew, who offered to take our picture on the bench. I plucked up the courage to ask them if they were artists, and discovered that the woman who snapped this photo had designed and painted The Canterbury Tales bench. This information pretty much made my morning, and the entire trip to London thus far.
Back down at the bottom of the hill, we found On the Origin of Species, which we sat on quickly before going to find a cup of tea and a croissant.
A quick visit to Captain Scott's Autobiography. Humuhumu had retired to the sanctuary of her pushchair at this point - her legs were worn out.
She did like the "pingus" though.
A brief burst of energy was inspired by the opportunity to get a little bit damp.
Dr Samuel Johnson's Dictionary was down a side street between the park and the train station in a construction zone.
The Octonauts were of more interest at this point. Sorry, Dr Johnson.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy sits just outside Greenwich train station.
So long, and thanks for all the benches. (She fell asleep on the platform while waiting for the train.)
We missed out on two of the benches in the area: The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole (Girl Engrossed) and We're Going on a Bear Hunt. But ten out of twelve isn't bad for a child under two, even if she is an exceptionally enthusiastic model.

It looks as if you two had a good day.

I was hoping to go on a third trail before we left on Monday (there are four in total) but it would probably hurt me physically - I'm halfway through my second pregnancy and maneuvering her around London on my own is pretty difficult!
