Irritating: Discovering your wallet is nowhere in your house.

Embarrassing: Having to borrow money from your elderly neighbour to pay for your train journey to work because you can't scrape together £6.80 in change.

Humiliating: Being offered a lift to the station from your elderly dressing-gown-clad neighbour - and accepting because it's pissing it down outside and you're carrying your daughter.

Annoying: Canceling all your credit cards on finding that your wallet is not in your partner's office.

Humbling: Being handed your intact wallet by the servers at the university cafe.

That sounds like a rotten day. But there was some very kind people in it.

I'm glad that day redeemed itself but sorry it had to go through four different iterations of crap before it did.

Ok. I've been diligently defending my schedule from attempted invasions. Not so much as a pencilling in has been permitted. Well, with the exception of a possible work thing but that may not be a issue.

Sympathy. Wallets and cards are always wandering off when you aren't looking. I wish we could scrap cards and keys and ID and do all our realworld security and transactions by our choice of iris or thumbwhorl scan; or skin DNA readers. Of course, use of such tech would only be comfortable if one could trust Them-In-Charge, not only in the present but for the future - something which didn't used to worry me but has begun to. And, of course, if there aren't power cuts...

But, lovely helpful neighbour!

The catflap operates by recognising their microchips. Fine for cats, but I find the idea of being Chipped myself a bit worrying. Perhaps an ID chip in a MedicAlert bracelet, now that I wouldn't mind.
