Josh & I went for a hike in Torrey Pines State Reserve while I was in San Diego earlier this month. It's perched on a gorgeous curve of cliffs, and features a profusion of flowers and migrant seabirds as well as the eponymous - and rare - pine tree.
Some truly gorgeous photos :3 I'm glad you enjoyed the reserve! Looks like you got to go on a beautiful day, too - the flowers weren't in bloom when we went last. Which trail did you take?
Thank you. I don't know what it was called, but it was pretty much the northernmost bit of the reserve - the easiest bit to get to when you're coming from the UCSD campus.
Those are brown pelicans! They visit San Diego every year, but they aren't often present in the numbers that they were during my visit. There were hundreds of them. The speculation is that the fish population in northern Mexico, where they normally breed, has taken a nosedive this year, forcing them further into Southern California than they would usually venture.
