My train to London this morning was delayed due to the presence of sheep on the tracks.

I'm currently reading Thomas Hardy's Far from the Madding Crowd, in which the sheep are a driving force (har!) in the determining the fortunes of the humans.

Coincidence?!

Ahaha, gotta love the countryside. During secondary school I was about an hour late arriving (more than once!) because of the bus getting stuck behind sheep and cows trundling along the narrow lane.

I remember it being kind of amazing to me how much of the route into London is countryside when I first started commuting. It's not like, say, Southern California, where a drive from LA to San Diego (120 miles, double the distance from Cambridge to London) is pretty much all concrete.

Indeed. It gave me an extra 11 minutes to read the book.

In Hardy, though, it would mean you missed some critical encounter: and everything thereafter went to hell in a handbasket.
