Do you often make impulsive purchases?

Normally, no. For example, f I could find the following clothing in totally indestructible form, I would buy it and wear it forever:

• plain black skinny jeans or thick leggings
• black t-shirt reading "no." in small neat cursive lettering
• black zip-up hoodie
• black underwear
• black ankle socks
• black knee-high boots in soft matte waterproof material

Clothing aside, having performed all my shopping online for months, I find that I'm more vulnerable to advertising of books, small useful electrical items, furniture, and groceries. I impulse-bought a new office chair in the post-Christmas sales. I'd had the same chair for 12 years and the seat cover was completely gone so I probably needed a new chair, but it hadn't, y'know, actually collapsed so it wasn't strictly necessary by my standards.

Clothes shopping is such a pain, so I hear you about wanting an indestructible basic wardrobe, with the correct response already pre-printed on it.

I feed a new seat, or at least a new seat cushion, but it is tremendously difficult to find a chair for myself that doesn't stop at our just below the shoulders when I sit in it, even the ones that claim to have headrests.

Not going anywhere at the moment helps with not needing to shop for clothes, so at least there's one element of lockdown that's positive.

A seat cushion sounds like a great solution if you have a chair that's of suitable proportions and would be difficult to replace!

Back in the misty past of late 2019, I spent what seemed like quite a lot of money on a decent office chair and big monitor, and then proceeded to berate myself for months for having done so when I so rarely worked at home and could perfectly well use the sofa and laptop when I did.

With hindsight? Should have bought a lottery ticket, too.

I bought an office chair last year. It was hell to assemble alone, but it was worth the money.

Heh, thanks. I just got a new pair (again: sales) which are the same brand/model I had and wore through about two years ago. With hindsight, should have replaced them two years ago as have tried 2-3 replacements that did not work out.

I'm very glad I got the new office chair. My back is a lot happier with me.
