Charlecote Park

For our final walk of the year, we headed out very early this morning to Charlecote Park in Warwickshire. The park supports a large deer population and lots of other wildlife. We started in freezing fog and ended in sunshine with takeaway coffees, hot chocolates, and shortbreads, which was definitely the right way round according to the children.

Yes! It gave the place quite a haunting atmosphere until the sun burned through the fog.

We arrived just after opening and there was no one else around, so the freezing fog was rather spooky.

They were beautiful. I've rarely seen fallow deer in such numbers.

Yes! They were very disappointed that we came to their bridge just to play pooh sticks, and not to drop bread or seeds on them.

I think between the two herds we saw there must have been a couple hundred. :)

I lived round the corner from this for about 15 years and never went!

It's not the easiest place to get to so I can see why. We had to detour around some flooded roads!

There were wicker animals all around the courtyard. The badger was the best!
