One of the reasons we had shelving installed in the dining area of our newly extended house was so that we could have the breakfast cereal and bowls within easy reach of our children.

Humuhumu took immediate advantage of this in order to have more time to play before having to get dressed and start home school. She even remembered to put out the vitamins. Very proud!

Well done Humuhumu! I'm sure she and Keiki will be whipping up a three course meal for the parents in no time!

Yay childhood proactiveness! =:o}

(Although it can go wrong sometimes. I remember the first time I made a pot of tea for my parents' morning cuppa. We'd had an emergency replacment lesson from the headmaster the day before, 'cos the usual teacher was off sick, and he chose to explain to us all how to make a pot of tea - The old "one per person, and one for the pot" rule. Trouble is, I got confused about the precise role of the kettle in the process. Result: One pot of *incredibly* strong tea, and a kettle that needed thorough cleaning to flush out all the loose tea leaves! =:o\ )

Aww, that was cute and sweet. Did your parents drink the tea, at least?

Alas it was undrinkable. Luckily I'd warned them I wasn't sure I'd done it right. Mum took one brave sip, politely explained it was abit too strong for her, but thanked me for the effort. Later that day she showed me how she & Dad preferred it made (no "one for the pot"), and I was then pronounced an approved maker of future morning cuppas. =:o}

Clever child. Well done.

(I both dread and anticipate what Humhumu will do with increased age, capacity, and experience, and I am only hearing vicariously about these things.)

That's great! I love when giving them the tools to explore their independence also give you more flexibility and time for yourself.
