Before 20:30 this evening, I had a grand plan to proudly commemorate our first day as primary school teachers.

Now that it's after 20:30 this evening and the news that UK is officially in full lockdown for at least the next three weeks has eclipsed everything, this has been scaled back to reporting the result of me attempting to give music lessons to Keiki on the keyboard. I showed him a video of Lang Lang using an orange to play Chopin etudes on the piano. This was his response.

Haha, Lang Lang has some competition.

(Seriously, I'm glad I'm not alone in enjoying Lang Lang.)

No idea who Lang Lang is (will Google) but that pic is adorable.

I'm sorry the lockdown news has put a dampener on your celebration.

It's so weird watching this all unfold elsewhere and seeing my friends coming to grips with this.

*hugs*

We're fine. I wish we could all be home 24/7 together to be completely safe, or at least as safe as it can be under the circumstances, but until my husband's parental leave is approved that won't happen.

I think I worked out a routine that is feasible for me and the girls and I stick to it. Some days are better, some days are worse. My eldest has adapted remarkably well. She is not completely fine, of course, she's suddenly afraid of having a shower, something she'd grown out of months ago. I don't think it's a coincidence this has resurfaced now. She often asks about when she'll be able to go back to nursery and she tells me she misses her friends and teacher. But I must say she's holding up well.

I'm very tired but I can't complain. I feel lucky with the cards I've been dealt in this weird moment.

Some days are better, some days are worse. My eldest has been pretty good about it, really. I think children adapt much better than we do. Especially younger ones. She misses her friends, her grandparents, she misses school...but she can keep herself entertained quite a bit. I'm impressed.

We locked it down here as of today, too. It's a good thing, absolutely, but a strange and difficult one.

Keiki is charming!

Thank you for cute child photos and nice nature photos to cheer us all up in this dark time.

Keiki understands the purpose of art, and, perhaps most crucially, that art should always be open to being made fun of.

Reminds me of the picture a friend of mine took that was, at first glance, a recreation of a Magritte, except that when you looked closer, you realized the gender presentation of the person in the picture was different than the person in the painting, which was also the point that I realized it was a photograph I was looking at, and not a painting or a manipulation.

Keiki might have Banksy's eye for parody.
