Day 2/183: Olafur Eliasson at the Tate Modern, London

I took my dSLR along with me to the immersive Olafur Eliasson exhibition at the Tate Modern in London.


My friend Kate making her way through one of Olafur Eliasson’s exhibitions.

View from one side of a mirror/bubble exhibit. From the other side, you couldn’t see in.


I don’t remember what this projection was called. It rotated and evolved very slowly. It looked to me like the skull of a small delicate creature. Other opinions included abyssal plain dweller and ossicles.

P.S. thankyou for sharing these pictures. They are both visually intriguing and contextually (with the aid of the captions) thought-provoking. It's just that *that* particular caption caught my cynicism-bone. =;o}

If you thought that was annoying, imagine the vitriol we unleashed upon viewing "Feelings are facts." Just...no. Feelings are valuable. Feelings are worthy of respect. But feelings are not facts.

That first one looks disturbingly like the photos on our front pages right now...

It looks like it was a good exhibition - I love the accidental long exposure photo.

I think that was exactly the point. There was a strong thread of "climate change is real, deal with it" running through the exhibition.

Some elements of the exhibition were brilliant, others highly inaccessible- like the one with the irregular strobe in the pitch black room. Even as the only person in our group for whom that is not a migraine trigger, it was deeply unpleasant.

If you have time to stand in the queue, yes! All advance tickets are sold out so you have to queue for a timed ticket on the day.

You're welcome! I think the artist is quite prolific, so I suspect you could easily catch another exhibition on one of your jaunts in the next year.
