Day 8 of 30: Kingfisher

I may still be a bit grumpy I couldn't sneak a tiny bit closer before the dog-walkers scared it off. Nevertheless, it is always a pleasure to catch a glimpse of a kingfisher by the canal and one day I will buy myself a 400mm telephoto lens.

Amazing! I don't think I've ever seen a kingfisher in real life. This is lovely. I love a birb on a post.

I had seen one once or twice previously, but it happens a lot more often now, living next to a rural canal!

Oh, wow. And at least you can see it's a kingfisher, unlike my photo of a ruby throated humming bird over the summer, where you can sort of vaguely see a blurry dot....

Oh, hummingbirds are very difficult to photograph! Fast shutter speed a must.
