Children in the Butterfly House (Day 13 of 30)

One of the places my Auntie M took us when we were in rural eastern Ohio was a botanical garden with a wonderful butterfly house. Here the children are walking around awestruck with their sugar-soaked wands. There's a butterfly on Keiki's but I'm not sure he'd noticed it had landed just then.

Both of them seem to be focussing on things *other* than their wands, or whatever's on them... But they both seem fully engaged with their environment/situation! Lovely picture, full of dynamic(s). It's... kind of like a freeze-frame of Wonderwoman and Spiderman, each of them facing off against a different fearsome foe... Except that the fearsome foe, in both cases, is "me not knowing what *THAT* is yet". =:o}

Thank you! Yes, that's exactly what they were doing. They didn't want to leave - we arrived at the gardens at mid-day and they could easily have stayed in the Butterfly House until closing time.

There was just so much to take in there, and they were willing to spend the time to absorb it all. It was wonderful to watch.

Welp. I'm officially that irritating last-time-i-saw-them person. I honestly have little more coherent than unfiltered squealing.

Humuhumu is SO GROWN. Ahhhhhhhh.

Something about that tank top makes her look especially ripped. :D

Yes! And somehow the way her hair is falling is less little girl and more young person. And possibly the frames make a difference.

Anyway. Thanks for the reminder to send them morepostcards while they still remember me, probably.

They look so intent on the wonders! I'm glad they had an amazing time.

They were! They were counting all the species of butterfly and memorising the names and watching the feeding and courting behaviours. We were there for almost two hours and they could easily have stayed twice that.

Yes, so many different butterfly types and behaviours. Not to mention the profusion and variety of plants and flowers!

Humuhumu has shot up! She looks so tall in recent photos

She's having a growth spurt at the moment and is constantly hungry. Most unusual as she's normally a bit of a butterfly herself.
