Final episode! Quite possibly they saved the best for last, or at least, the prettiest. (So pretty.)

Ep 8: Angela and Alishia

If there isn’t such a thing as an adorable lesbian klaxon, can we make one? Now taking suggestions on what that might sound like.

Angela and Alishia are newlyweds. Angela is a veterinarian and Alishia is a flight attendant. Angela: “I feel like I literally grabbed her out of the sky and brought her down to earth.” Alishia: “Ohhhhh yes.” They just bought a house, although they have been together for five years. They have two dogs and a cat. Their house may be a bit of a mess, but I can’t imagine anyone who enters their home will be frowning over the state of their shelving. They will be too busy going all googly-eyed over how cute these two are, individually and together. Maybe it’s just me? It can't be just me.

The common living area is pretty tidy, which I consider impressive given the number of pets they have.

The trouble starts in the office/guest room, which also functions as their closets. Angela: “We call this…’the struggle room’.” Their clothes are very mixed up across two rooms and they have different ideas about how to sort that out. Angela just wants everything put away. Alishia wants to be more systematic about it.First sign of tension between them on camera. It’s pretty mild though.

They keep using “pants” synonymously with “trousers”, because, of course, American, but a childish part of my brain is snickering.

Master bedroom is pretty calm, apart from the closet, which is a jumble of their clothes. MK firmly suggests they make the master bedroom closet Alishia’s, and the guest room closet Angela’s. It is an obvious and sensible suggestion, but it also strikes me as one of those things that can be very difficult to agree on as a couple. The external impetus makes it so much easier to come to a decision.

House-greeting ritual. These two are more into it than others previously, although there is a funny moment when MK and Angela stop, and Alishia is just sat there, still meditating, until Angela awkwardly breaks the silence.

The Mount Clothing sorting begins. Alishia has loads. Angela hasn’t. She says she’s not terribly into them because she wears scrubs four days a week. (She’s going to have her comeuppance when they get to the bathroom, don’t worry. Girl has more toiletries than you can find in a Superdrug.) Alishia has the opposite opinion. She also wears a uniform but she feels her non-uniform clothes are an expression of her personality, and is proud of her eclectic collection. She has this cute Little Black Dress that her grandmother brought her, which she is fixated on because she even though she can’t wear it (too small), it brings back such a strong memory of a happy time spent with her grandma. MK tells her the point is not to eliminate things just for the sake of it. After MK goes she talks a bit more about it, and then she cries, and Angela comes in to cuddle her, and we all go a bit wibbly, yes, we do. Sneef.

At MK’s next visit they show her the pile of clothes they’re donating. Alishia hasn’t yet let go of the LBD but she’s giving herself a little more time with it, “to extract the memory”, before she donates it.

Hoodie-folding lesson. Undergaments-folding lesson. Bras should apparently be stored in little boxes in shallow drawers and sorted according to type. This is a nice suggestion if your bedside table - or indeed any of your dressers - has shallow drawers. Mine do not. I feel slightly grumpy watching this.

They head into the kitchen. It’s very jumbled. Angela and Alishia already know that some stuff in there is expired. After MK leaves, they start in on the pantry and unearth the horrors, and decide on a height-based system of access for cooking items.

Alishia: “Have you gone through these glasses?” Angela: “Yeah.” Alishia, muttering: “Don’t look like you went through ‘em.” Angela: “Don’t sort my things, sort your things, kay?” Alishia: “Ohohoo, those are fighting words!...Mrowr” <33333

MK turns up with small shelves so Alicia can get her shoe collection organised. MK also selects a closet for them to put all the scattered pet items in one place. The dog toys are dumped out in the living room. About 40 tennis balls go tumbling across the floor. The dogs on the balcony wag their tails furiously.

Moving on to the bathroom. Here is where we find out Angela is a “groomaholic”. Alishia: “I don’t like anything on the bathroom counter...She likes accessibility, I like cohesiveness.” It’s a tiny space with very little storage, so I can see her point. It probably doesn’t take many hair products by the sink to make it feel cluttered in there.

Homework time. Angela: “The bickering is on the decline.” Alishia: “I love her more.” Angela: “Do ya?” Alishia: “I do.” Angela: “I didn’t think that was possible.” Alishia: “You’d be surprised what a little organisation can do.” SO MUSH, MANY TOOTHACHE

Hand-held video camera shot of the pets all zonked out on the guest room bed whilst their humans tidy. D’awwww.

MK’s final visit. The kitchen cupboards are organised. The guest room floor is visible and the desk is usable. They each have their own closets. They’ve finished the de-cluttering and can now focus on decorating, as evidenced by the picture frames that have been hung up but don’t have photos in them yet.

Final interview with Angela and Alishia. They’re still cute, but they have also obviously drunk the KonMari Kool-Aid. I’m glad it worked for you, but don’t over-egg it, y’all!

Indeed!

Due to my dad's ... outbursts ... I think I would find the show unbearably stressful, but the recaps are a delight.

Trousers = pants
Pants = underpants

(And me without an "I see London; I see France" icon.)

Hollow laugh at the bra storage. Does NOT work with h cups! (Nothing does. It's hopeless.)

I did like this one a lot, and approve of your adorable lesbian klaxon. Am guess it would sound like a large number of cats, or possibly a moving van?

They were so cute! And made me feel a lot better about the amount of cosmetics etc. that I own.

I too do not have shallow drawers in my dresser and thus cannot do the cute bra-folding, but I also don't own enough bras (let alone of different types) to make trying to bother worthwhile.

I have been reading your recaps without really feeling any need to watch the episodes because your summaries satisfy my curiosity without having to sit through Other People's Nonsense (thank you!) but this makes me want to watch the episode (thank you!!)
