Day 301/365: Much crafting

Humuhumu received many crafting sets for her birthday from her friends, so we've had a weekend of Creative Activity.


We made vases with air-drying clay and painted them. One by Keiki, one by Humuhumu.


We made a photo frame with decoupage and foam shapes.


We coloured in bags. Owl for the lip glosses she got from her friends and Fox for the nail varnishes.


And another bag, for her Rainbows outfit.

Post does not include all the drawings, beaded necklaces, and the stickers we made in the sticker machine.

I felt like it wasn't a busy weekend because we didn't go out a lot apart from lessons, but then I totted up the number of things we made and yes, that is a false impression. :P

Indeed! We spent a good bit of today tidying up the crafting table so we know where everything is, and it's a lot calmer and more accessible now.

Wow! Those are very colourful vases and I do like the owl and fox.

I'm impressed with the vividness of the paints and the fabric pens! This has been a very recent development/improvement in crafting sets. Even just a few years ago the colouring-in kits were not as good as they are now.

It was! Humuhumu is going to do a drawing of the family for the photo frame.

How do coloured in bags work? I mean, how does the colour not run/rub off onto the owner?

The bags are amazingly good, actually! The fabric is, I think, some sort of treated satin. They absorb the ink from the pens remarkably well, almost instantly, and the ink bleeds almost like watercolours to fill in to the black borders. Once it's dry, it doesn't rub off.

That's my girl. She loves colouring-in, and does it very carefully.

Honestly, I wish I was as good at colouring in! I always go over the lines, and not in an artistic way. Just in a way that clearly shows I went wrong!
