Day 247/365: The Room: Old Sins

Do I have any fellow fans of The Room series of games on DW/LJ? The bloke and I played One through Three avidly. They are such beautifully crafted and creepy puzzle games, and the latest is no exception. I am loving it, and have forced myself to put it down this evening to do my daily update and also because I only have three rooms left (I think). I was particularly fond of the submarine and pagoda/giant octopus puzzles in this one. Also, having to do spirographs to unlock the gazebo in the garden!

They are expensive for phone games (~£5), but worth every penny, especially if you like a tantalisingly gothic-steampunk aesthetic with your memory games.

PS Humuhumu could not have had a better first day in Year One. She was in Silver Zone (the best), got to read aloud (her favourite) and received two stars (the most) for her work at the end of the day. Tiny high achiever was deeply content when picked up.

I got halfway through Room 2 and gave it a break as it was so similar to the first. Had to stop at the start of Monument Valley 2 for same reason.
The Cube Escape games are good but harder and a bit spooky, like Myst/Riven.

The Room 3 was definitely a step up from the Room 2 in terms of complexity and difficulty. I can see a few similarities between 3 and this latest installment.

Yay! This installment was so beautiful, I immediately played it through again, just for the pleasure of seeing the art.

Thank you. Oh yes, Old Sins is lush. The only thing that's frustrating is not being able to interact with some of the details. Never mind the puzzles, I want to be able to look at all the art!

This installment is the most beautiful, I feel, and worth playing just to have a good squiz round all the sets.

so I downloaded the first game last night and literally stayed up all night finishing it. I loved it. (altho my dragging morning self is unsure if I should thank you for it or not >_< )

I loved the first Room game, played it obsessively. I’ve stalled out on Room 2, even though I have 3 queued up. Also zoomed through Monument 1, and have 2 queued up - I must get back to both!

I felt 3 was a better installment than 2, although it did take me aaaaages to complete. This one is the most beautiful, I think.
