Day 204/365: Butterfly action shot

I have had a stupidly busy day but I can't tell you how pleased I was when I found this on my camera's memory card from yesterday. Here, a green-veined white butterfly attacks a large white butterfly whilst a mint moth (red and brown with yellow markings) looks on unperturbed. Never a dull moment in the herb patch!

Yep. The assailant had clearly been through this sort of thing before, given the tatty condition of its wings!

Thanks! I've been making an effort to spend a few minutes every day attempting to get action shots and it finally seems to be paying off.

We've had a plethora of butterflies in our garden this summer, which I don't recall from previous years. I'm not sure if it's the weather or if something else has changed locally but they do appear to be in love with our lavender.
