Bank holiday weekend photodump

Since I’d best get these posted before next weekend happens, have a selection of photos from the bank holiday weekend.


This prequel is from work in London on the Friday before the weekend. Everyone’s favourite selfie-loving tattooed physicist (mggttaylor) came to lunch with the Rosetta team. We talked comets and outreach and heavy metal. Beer may or may not have been consumed.

Then I went back to Worcestershire and the weekend proper began.

The buildings museum near us has added some fantastic children’s play areas recently, so we took the cousins to explore them with us.

We put tents out in the garden (there wouldn’t have been enough beds for everyone otherwise).

There was a trip to the pub for “a drink” which turned into three before we staggered home to make dinner.

(Random thought because I remember you writing about trying to find a kind of sports that Humuhumu enjoys - have you thought about climbing/bouldering? Just mentioning it because I was myself totally surprised just a few days ago when a friend who is taking courses to become an instructor mentioned climbing lessons for pre-schoolers and primary school kids, I always thought they had to be older.)

We took my (just) 3 year old nephew to a climbing session at a soft play near us, it was really good and the instructors were great.

The children all had brilliant time together - minimal conflict!

I have thought about taking Humuhumu to a bouldering gym. I called one a couple of years ago and they said to wait until she was six or seven as most of the routes would probably be too difficult for her. I should try looking around again.

The buildings museum has a lot of acreage, so the play areas are spread throughout it, which adds even more interest. :)

Yes, they did! Niece rode a small horse rather than Frankie the Pony. Keiki wanted to ride the horse, but the stirrups wouldn't shorten enough for him to get his feet into them.

Me too. I bought those purple tights in the US. She loves them because they're sparkly but also because they have POCKETS.

When we visited the place in January, the playgrounds were under construction, so it was very exciting to finally be able to use them!

Great pictures, makes me want to be child-sized again, so I play along. Also I've scrolled past the entries a couple of times, and that first picture has cheered me up every time :D
