A boat ride down the Danube.

Our day of brilliant weather in Vienna happened on the Tuesday, which was nice as it was the one day that the bloke had off from the conference. We took advantage of it to go on a boat ride down the Danube. Granny, Humuhumu and I had done this together a couple of years before, but the others had never been before. Keiki loved it. He sat upright and alert on my lap for two straight hours, watching and commenting on everything and occasionally bursting into song.

Most of these photos were either taken by the bloke or Humuhumu.

[I had meant to add more commentary but this entry has been sitting half-finished in my documents for weeks so I figured it was best to just post it before it got any more out of date.]

On disembarking from the boat, we discovered that one of the city’s fountains had been turned on in honour of the nice weather.

There's a fountain like that one in the square in front of the RA in London so add it to the list! :o)

They had so much fun in the fountain. I'd only brought one change of top so they were pretty soggy on the way home. They didn't seem to mind, though.

Seoul! I would love to take them there. I mean, I want to take them everywhere, but that's definitely high on the list.

Giant Octopus is covered in much more vegetation than it was a couple of years ago. It lurks now.

She is doing well with the prime lens. We're working on the macro as well, but as it's big and heavy and much harder to get the focus right, it will take time.

Such concerns as being soggy seem to be a consequence of getting older, I find, and getting a bit more concerned about what it looks like to everyone around. Sometimes those are good things, but occasionally it does harm.

Yes, it is. I love visiting it. The Viennese are super-friendly and encouraging when you try to speak (in my case, quite rudimentary) German to them as well.

Thanks! We saw the octopus for the first time a couple of years ago. It has since been working on its camouflage. Perhaps someday it will be completely obscured by the foliage.

Thank you! I really wish there were more photos of me with the children. Unless I take awkward selfies, they just don't happen. Getting Humuhumu and Keiki their own camera will help, I hope.
