Cannot see the image either, but from the description, I would term it a hat. As it is likely the same object that Tay and I paraded around wearing upturned on our heads, declaring "I'm wearing my new hat to town!"

What an excellent interpretation. I shall endeavour to demonstrate its usability as a hat to Humuhumu today.

Based on the description, I believed that the object in question is a turtle, according to local usage. Or possibly a turtle shell. Although, seeing the pic, I realised that ours were somewhat more turtle shaped.
