Sauntering Vaguely Downward

I don't know if you're familiar with Giving What We Can, but they recommend charities based on strict cost-effectiveness - ie how far your money can go in reducing suffering in the world. Most of them are things like incredibly cheap treatment for malaria and tuberculosis, that sort of thing, where you can literally save a life for 50p. Here's their recommended charities list.
