About my job
I'm a school counselor working with Middle School students (ages roughly 11-15 depending). I have between 400 and 500 on my caseload depending on the year and I've been doing this for almost 10 years now. Before that I was in grad school and before that I was a direct service staff member in a group home for teenage girls who were in addiction recovery, or had fairly significant mental health/emotional concerns, or had impulse control issues that resulted in violence against themselves or someone else.
Some random facts
I've been to 49 states (I'm from the US part of N. America). I'll go to Hawaii some day. I've also been to most of the countries of what might be called "Western" Europe due to a stint living in Europe courtesy of my father's job in the USAF.
Things I like to do
I read genre fiction of all sorts. I write, mostly original fiction but the occasional short fanfic. I play ridiculous video-games. I travel.
Fandom
I'm either a fandom dabbler or a metafan. I dip shallowly into a few fandoms, but mostly I like to watch fandom at work.
Social media usage
LJ, DW, the occasional message board, but that's pretty much it. I'm a facebook holdout and plan to always be one. I have nothing against tumblr, I just haven't felt motivated to get an account.
>Subscriptions, access and commenting
I have very few things locked, and practically no one on my access list in part because of that. I generally subscribe back to anyone subscribed to me and sometimes I comment. I do try to comment back if someone comments to me. Um, I don't subscribe to the underaged (for, you know, professional reasons). I don't mind discussions in my journal when I've posted about something a bit controversial.
