Day 24 of 30: Hall of Vertebrates

A comment on my previous post about the Natural History Museum in Gothenburg, Sweden, reminded me of a remark Humuhumu made about it.

She said it made her think of the natural history museum in Dublin, Ireland. She's not wrong: it is equally overcrowded with taxidermy, wood-and-glass cabinets, dated displays, and peculiar odours. However, it struck me that she's six years old and capable of making that comparison because she's been there (DW/LJ), and to natural history museums in other European cities.

I don't want to bang on to her about the privilege she enjoys too much, but dang, that's one fortunate child.

Fortunate yes, but also bright and reflective that she's thinking about past trips, making comparisons, and that they made such an impression. You have a good one there!

Privileged, but someone who is going to be well aware of the fact.

That's all good.

You are giving her an excellent childhood, in lots of ways.

A good self-aware child, and one that will probably understand the amounts of privilege involved.
