The Friday Five on a Sunday

  1. What size (twin, full, etc.) is your bed?
King. We replaced our ancient double bloke-at-university-era bed with a very expensive John Lewis version when I discovered I was pregnant with Keiki, because I refused point-blank to carry another child to term on that mattress.

  2. How many pillows do you sleep with?
I use one pillow and the bloke uses one pillow. We each have an additional chunky memory-foam pillow that we use when reading in bed.

  3. Do you have a weighted blanket? If so, does it help you?
Er, I had to look this up. I have never used a weighted blanket and since I rarely suffer from insomnia, I probably wouldn't benefit from one.

  4. Do you sleep with any stuffed animals?
Only the ones our children bring with them when they sneak into bed with us.

  5. Do you have to have the TV on to go to sleep?
No, although we often listen to BBC Radio 4 comedy programmes (News Quiz, The Now Show, John Finnemore creations, Old Harry's Game) when it's time for lights out.

You're not alone.

I'd not heard of a weighted blanket either, but then we use continental style quilts as a result of both having lived there in younger days.

I'm tempted by weighted blankets. I like a nice heavy layer over me. Once I went back to stay with my parents and they'd replaced my old duvet with something that felt like a cloud and it was awful, and from then on they seemed to be the only kind we could find to buy. (My parents then let us have one they rejected for being too heavy - it's from The White Company so basically we have to keep it forever as we'd never be able to afford to replace it!)

Right with you on item five! =:o]
(Er, I don't mean right *there* with you... That would be weird. =:oo )

I've been thinking about a weighted blanket. We have a heavy winter duvet, which I definitely find more soothing than the summer duvet - but it's too damn hot most of the time.

Weighted blankets are a thing on your side of the Pond?

Hmmm.

For winter use, we have a heavy, faded-blue-denim, quilted duvet that absolutely does the job. I so adore to burrow my toes into the flipped-under bottom end of it.

Duvets on offer by the few textile-shops in our part of Salishaan are all thin, cheaply-wrought, insubstantial and thus utterly-ineffective things. Marie Kondo can take them all away with our blessings.
