4yo has taken to saying "but I like YOU Mummy, I don't LIIIIKE Daddy" when I try to fob him off with his other parent in the name of some quiet time by myself.

OTOH, it's nice to be a favourite parent. OTO, it would be nice to sit down for five minutes and look quietly at a book or a magazine article without having to resort to locking the bathroom door...

Keiki doesn't have that range of verbal expression yet, so he has to resort to screaming. :P

Keiki does like Daddy. Sometimes. Though if given a choice, he will always favour Mummy.

Honesty, for sure. When we asked again, he looked down and said "Mrhmghng", in a way that signalled, "I know I haven't given a polite answer so I won't repeat it, however..."

I agree, although I suspect in this case, that was an entirely truthful response. He likes Daddy some of the time, but not always!

Hah! As a very young child my father didn't live with us for a year or so, and I definitely felt that way about him.

My (biological) parents used to tell me a story. Daddy comes home for a visit from his remote work site. Mommy says to me: "Look who's here, it's Daddy!" My response: "Daddy who?"

This apparently led to him accelerating plans to live at home again.
