Totally frivolous Neko Atsume picspam

Yeah, I can't cope with the news or bring myself to talk about life right now. So instead, I give you a Gratuitous Neko Atsume picspam!

I haven't been so captivated by a game in years. Possibly more than a decade. I have collected all the cats. I have all but two of the "common" cats' mementos. I own all the toys. The only things I have left to do are to get the rest of the (mostly) rare cats to bring me their mementos, and purchase the other two backgrounds. Although my favourite is likely to remain the Zen Garden which features in the picspam.

Anyway, I have been carefully constructing a series of gardens. The first was inspired by a comments exchange with lurkingcat, and after that, I just couldn't stop.

Are you using the Japanese version? Because I can't expand my garden so much and it's a different angle to the house!

The Zen garden is set with the house on the right, where all the others are on the left. (I have Original, Zen and Rustic. Not that I am obsessed or anything.) *needs Neko Atsume icon*

I love all the colour gardens! I will have to do that. I have done one that was all pots and buckets. Including the vase, which is one of my favourite things.

The colour gardens were good fun, although it was agonising saving up fishies so I could get that last orange/red/green item. :P

OMG that 3-axis cat-tunnel! That's hilarious.

I've just got my first photo of a rare cat (Billy The Kitten, I know Ramses The Great has visited but have yet to actually see them), and am saving up for my first remodel.

That tunnel's good value, especially when it's all cat-butts sticking out. :D

Top tip re: using sashimi early in the game: If you put it on the upper level, Tubbsy won't come along and devour it. He always stays in the lower part of the garden.

I've been saving all my gold for expansion and now for remodel, but once I have the cheap remodel done I shall experiment with using gold in the shop...

Good items to save up gold fish for are the large items that can accommodate more cats than the spaces they take up. The kotatsu is a good one (takes up two spaces, can fit four cats).

Tubbs is the children's favourite cat.

This morning they made a three tier cat tree out of some cardboard tubes from the recycling box and three paper plates. There were tears when I knocked it over.

Tubbs is so lovable. There's something angelic about the smile on Tubbs' face, lounging there covered in crumbs. \o/

I blame you for getting into Neko Atsume, really I do. It's been SO much fun. I've been playing it in Japanese for reading practice, and currently I have my cardboard train out to try and get a picture of the Station-Master*.

I've been trying to set up a whole cardboard village, with the boxes and the truck and all, but I can't get the house, the shop, and the train out all at once. Maybe a later update will allow me to do this. :) Until then, I'm working on a cardboard shopping district.

*I have no idea what this cat's English name is. It's Eki-chou-san, so I've taken liberties with the translation here.

I love the cardboard village idea! Yeah, it's a bit limiting only being able to put two large items out at once. :)

According to the English version of the game, Eki-chou-san is "Conductor Whiskers". They didn't go so much for straight Japanese-to-English translations, they made cute/terrible puns. I have high hopes that if I buy all the rest of the upgrades (or even if I don't; because no way am I spending real money on this even if it is adorbs), they will release more and one will have more than two big-thing spaces. :D

It's a really low-key game, which is why I think I like it so much. You *can* spend a lot of time on it if you want to, but all you really have to do is put out toys and food, and check in every few hours to collect up the fishies.

I was wondering if you'd made the food garden :) I got distracted by luring cats in for mementos. Peaches kindly left me one this morning so I've got them all now. I'm currently plotting some kind of Art Deco/eighties style layout for the modern garden.

Oh, lucky you, getting Peaches' memento! I've only seen Peaches a couple of times, although the Catbook says there have been 10 visits.
