It's that time of year again.

I have figured out how to solve the UK's unemployment problem.

The new forms for settlement in the UK, dreamed up by the ever-brilliant Border Agency, have a new requirement. Not only must original documents proving identity, income and qualifications be provided, but photocopies must be sent in as well. The year's worth of bank statements alone could probably be used to beat whales to death.*

This just goes to show that the UK Border Agency staff must be desperately over-worked. They don't even have time to make photocopies any more. Clearly they are in need of a whole army of entry-level staff to ensure that all the paperwork is triplicated and carefully filed so it can moulder gently in basements.

Frankly, yes, overworked is the word. 4 years ago, the requirement was 4 cases completed per week. It's now 5 per day. Ridiculous, frankly.

The flaw in your plan is that they'd have to PAY these entry-level staff, and that is verboten. *wry*

That it is a brilliant idea. I shall send the next person who turns up at reception asking for work experience off to see the Border Agency. I'll bet half them go away without asking where that is too :)
