Thank you. I hope it can be permanently repaired by the next (fifth!!!) engineer, but I strongly suspect we are looking at a new boiler as our Christmas present if we want this to be resolved. When I asked the third engineer about boiler lifetimes, he instantly replied "ten years". Then when we asked him how old ours was, he squinted at it and said, somewhat sheepishly, eleven. :/
